Cameron Road was a joint venture project between the land owner, Watts and Hughes Construction, and Sanctuary Properties. The building was specifically designed to meet the requirements of the inland revenue department (NZ) who committed to a large portion of the building, with Tauranga City Council taking a lease over the balance of the building. Upon completion the building was sold to a commercial syndicate reflecting premium yield and price reflecting the quality of both the building and tenant mix.

West End Marketplace Armidale is a regional retail shopping centre of 17,217sqm, situated at the western end of the CBD. Previously a Gasworks site, it had to be fully remediated. Armidale was long overdue to receive a retail facility of this size and its construction in 2007 meant that residents no longer had to travel to Tamworth and Grafton for their shopping needs. The complex covers over 15,450sqm and includes 40 speciality shops, as well as Big W and Woolworths.
Specialty shops in the centre include EB Games, Prouds the Jewellers, Just Jeans, Suzanne Grae, Angus and Coote, Fone Zone, Homeart, Harvey World Travel, Healthy Life, Brumby’s Bakery, Supanews, ED Harry, OPSM, Williams The Shoeman, Jeans West, Sanity, Payless Shoes, Strandbags, Terry White Chemist, Gloria Jeans, The Reject Shop, and Wendys.

Sanctuary Properties was involved with the planning, design and approval of a massive expansion of the Nerang Central Shopping Centre. This expansion included the development of a new Woolworths and Big W, along with a significant expansion to the speciality retail component of the centre. On completion, the centre value was estimated to be in excess of $200 million, and Sanctuary onsold the approval and adjoining land to a Sydney-based development company.

Sanctuary helped establish the NZ-based chain of restaurants known as Valentine’s in QLD, completing 4 design-and-construct buildings for the chain in Kenmore, Mt Gravatt, Browns Plains and on the Gold Coast. Valentine’s entered into long term leases on all of these properties and on completion they were on-sold to investors.

Sanctuary Properties completed construction of a mixed use commercial development in a prime site within 10 minutes of the CBD in Clayfield in 2000. Formerly a Shell Service Station, the completed project included a 60sqm office suite, four commercial tenancies and residential living, comprising two one-bedroom apartments, one two-bedroom apartment, and 3 separately titled townhouses. All retail leases were signed before construction began, with tenancies including Clayfield Foodmart, Red Rooster and Lunatic Fringe hairdressers.

Homestyle Morayfield is situated on Morayfield Rd opposite Morayfield Super Centre. The discount retail and homemaker centre is approximately 25,000sqm and was intended to complement the Super Centre. Stage 1 commenced in 2007 and was completed in February 2008. Stage 1 tenants consisted of high profile retailers including The Good Guys, Super Amart, BCF and Pillow Talk.
Morayfield offers great potential as the fourth fastest growing region in Australia, attracting significant patronage which continued with this project.

Sanctuary Properties developed Morayfield Super Centre which is located in the rapidly growing district of Morayfield, approximately 42km north of Brisbane. Morayfield Super Centre attracted tenants such as The Warehouse, Babies Galore, Beach House Fitness, Sam’s Warehouse, Beacon Lighting, Outback Adventures, Spotlight, Focus on Futons, Dial a Bed and Radio Rentals. Stage 1, The Homemaker Centre, provided 10 separate tenancies of retail warehouse accommodation totalling 12,412sqm of gross lettable area. The Centre opened in June 2003 and was the first of a three stage development. Construction of stage 2 was completed in early 2005 and added a further 9,340 sqm of retail showrooms.
